CRAIGGORE WIND FARM
The 10 turbine, 23.5MW Craiggore Wind Farm is located in the townland of Moneyguiggy, approximately 11 miles from Coleraine and 6 miles from Limavady.
Construction began in March 2020 and delivered a capital investment project worth approximately £8 million to the Northern Ireland economy during the construction phase, in the form of jobs, employment, and the use of local services. Omagh based Adman Civil Engineering Ltd carried out the main civil works and we also worked with a number of other local contractors.
During construction, Jude McCloskey, Director at Macan Developments, said: “Craiggore Wind Farm promises to bring many benefits to our area so as a local company, it’s great to be involved in its development. We work on the control building for the project and, as we are a small company, I act as a foreman, bringing in local subcontractors like plumbers and electricians at various stages of the project. We’ve brought in around 20 local subcontractors over the course of the development to ensure that everything was ready for the turbines’ arrival. This is my second project with RES and they have been a pleasure to work with – the project team has been really helpful and supportive of local businesses as well as the local community.”
Now fully operational, the wind farm is capable of producing clean, low carbon electricity for approximately 21,500 homes every year.
